With Dak Prescott injured, playing Cooper Rush does nothing. You already know what you have in him. So given where they are in the standings, at this point why not let Trey Lance play and see what he's got? Maybe he can provide a spark. Mickey: You have a good point. But rarely when just two games under .500 do you give up. Saw last season the Packers were 2-5 and didn't give up, and nor did they at 6-8. And you know the rest of the story, finishing 9-8 and basting the Cowboys in a first-round playoff game. The Cowboys will go with Coop hoping to keep their heads above water until Dak returns. But in the meantime, they will first prepare Trey Lance for backup duty, and don't be surprised if they carve out a package or two to get him in the game, especially as you say to use his legs at times running the ball. Think they were ahead of you on that plan.
Tommy: First, I wouldn't say that Cooper Rush does nothing. He's shown that he can win you games in 2022 when he went 4-1 and saved the season. That said, this is a completely different situation, and it all depends on what the Cowboys are trying to do in their final nine games. If they want to try and put together wins, then I think Rush gives you the best chance to do that with his experience in the offense. If you're willing to go through some potential growing pains to see how Trey Lance has progressed and add the running dimension at the quarterback spot, then clearly Lance is your guy. I think the Cowboys will start Rush at quarterback against Philadelphia, with Lance coming in situationally to start. If Rush isn't doing what he did in 2022 and the Cowboys continue to drop games, then I think you roll the dice with Lance and see what he can give you until Prescott returns. All that to say I'm not against Lance getting some snaps at all, and I believe he will.
